Over the past 19 years, with the patronage of 8,000+ attendees along with over 1,600 restaurants and celebrity guests, Blind Date With a Star (BDWAS) has raised well over $1,000,000 dollars, helping to fund the vital needs of children in our community. This year is no different with 100% of the 2020 Blind Date With a Star proceeds supporting the important long term residential care program that Chisholm Services for Children provides for children ages 12 and younger; programs such as HIGH FIVE ® recreation, Mindfulness Group, pet therapy, adoption, and the LINKS literacy program.
The theme for the 2020 fundraiser is Acts of Kindness (“A.O.K.”) as we celebrate 20 years of Blind Date With a Star in support of children!
Acts of Kindness is an international movement of doing good deeds and ‘paying it forward’ to those that may need the support: An act of kindness is a spontaneous gesture of goodwill towards someone or something - our fellow humans, the animal kingdom, and the kingdom of nature. Kind words and deeds come from a state of benevolence, generated by a core response deep within all of us.
The children at Chisholm participate in the A.O.K. movement by doing Random Acts of Kindness which ‘pay it forward’….. whether it be a bottle drive for the Kids Help Phone or just paying someone’s parking meter that is about to expire.
The A.O.K. initiative instills faith that there are good things happening all around even when the future may not seem like it……especially for the children at Chisholm.
We invite you to join the children at Chisholm and give your support by sponsoring the 2020 edition of Blind Date with a Star. Together, we all will see that some things in the world are AOK!
